About My Health, Mi Familia
My Health, Mi Familia is focused on mental health awareness to destigmatize talking about mental health in your families and Latino community. We believe that the best care for preventing a mental health crisis, or regrounding yourself if a crisis does occur, is social support from those that you call family.
Jennifer Somerville
Jennifer is a North Philadelphia native and natural community leader. She obtained her Biology degree from Bryn Mawr College in 2017. After realizing the vast difference in the quality of life between her alma mater and her Kensington neighborhood in North Philadelphia, she dedicated her career to focus on asset-based community development and community health and wellness initiatives. Jennifer has developed and managed educational classes, community events, and workshops focused on financial and holistic health and wellness, to equip people with overall healthy living practices. Her background in community health education, community organizing, and research, equips her to serve families from various walks of life. My Health, Mi Familia, is a compilation of her passions and an expression of sharing her own mental health journey to engage the Latino community in necessary conversations around mental health.
